Henry is O-N-E!

Yes, it's true! A full year has passed since we welcomed our bouncing baby boy into this world. We celebrated in style, had lots of friends and family to share the special day with us and Henry had his first taste of sugar - a cupcake!

This is the Korean tradition of Toljabee which predicts the child's future (we had so much fun watching our niece and nephews do this we had to keep the tradition going). Here's what the items represent:

pencil - scholar

spool of thread - long life

paint brush - artist

knife - good cook (we chose the spatula for obvious reasons)

money - prosperous & wealthy

calculator - engineer or accountant (ok-so this was added by mommy)

Henry chose the spool of thread!

And then the calculator :)

Happy Birthday Henry!!!!

Cupcake - yummy!

Playing with his friend Chase.

I'll be walking before you know it!

Cupcakes and Cars - Henry's two favorite things!

Teddy Bear Cake - Henry's First Birthday cake!

Look at the loot! And he's spent...

On Henry's birthday we took him to the Puyallup Fair. He enjoyed visiting all the animals and petting the goats at the petting farm. He saw Clydesdale horses and a mama pig with her piglets. Here he is trying on a wig - if only it were black then it would go with his KISS shirt.

We started taking Henry to the Little Gym. He loves playing around with the other babies and crawling all over their play toys. His favorite thing to do is crawl into the middle of the circle during music time and clapping his hands.

For his birthday, mommy & daddy bought him a colorful play mat with foam letters and numbers. He loves crawling over it and pulling up the different letters.

Mommy went on a hike with her friend Tiffany and took Henry along for the ride. We hiked up Tiger mountain outside of Issaquah which is about a 5-mile round trip hike with almost 2,000 feet elevation gain. It wasn't easy, but worth it once we got to the top of the mountain.
Thankfully Tifffany was there to lend a back. She carried him most of the way up the trail - great cross-training!
In the hiking backpack looking like a robot.
On top of the mountain! Henry LOVED watching all the planes in the sky. Couldn't get a picture of him looking a the camera.
Yummy snack!

Huskie fan!!!!

So mommy & daddy went to the Dave Matthew's concert over Labor Day weekend with Amy & Brian and left Henry with Grandpa Patches and Nana for his FIRST sleepover! It poured rain the entire time driving up to the Gorge and while we tailgated in the parking lot. Thankfully the rain cleared up right as we were getting ready to head to the gates. The concert was great, but we did miss our little guy....

We also went camping with our friends May & Peter to Potholes State Park in Eastern Washingtong the last weekend in August. On our way back home there was a car fire, and subsequently a brush fire, on I-90. Traffic was stopped for a solid hour (not to mention it took another hour to finally drive through the mess). During that time, we brought Henry up front to test drive the Explorer. Who would have thought an 11-month old could do so well towing a boat! Look out - he's already counting down the days until he can drive!

Look at me mommy!

Sitting, er standing in Henry's case, by the fire. He's such a good little camper!
Swimming in the Potholes Resevoir with May and mommy!

Swimming with mommy! What a nice way to cool off!

Monkey My Pal

A long time ago, Brad surprised me by sending me this monkey to my work (back in the Nordstrom days) to keep me company while he was gone for a week. Now this monkey is Henry's new friend =)
Showing off his new teeth - Henry was looking at his reflection in the window.

Henry woke up from his nap and had a footprint indented on his leg. Kinda strange and must have been quite uncomfortable!

I don't know who KISS is, but mom said I'd be cool if I wore this t-shirt...

Photo Shoot with May

May hearts her camera and the camera hearts Henry =)

Milestones Galore

Where do we begin? Over this past month, Henry has been surprising us each day with more "firsts." He can now sit up on his own. We found him sitting up in his crib one morning and now he likes to sit up once we lay him down for a nap. A fun new first. He also surprised us one day when he started to clap his hands. Whenever we say "Yeah!" he gets all excited and claps his hands together. We're starting to teach him patty cake and he's learning quickly. Henry has advanced from the one-armed camando crawl to a two-armed scoot. We're still waiting for him to crawl on his hands and knees, but he's not quite ready for that yet. Henry now can feed himself too! This has been quite fun, as you can see below with the baked beans. Last but not least, we found tooth #5 working its way up his gums!!! This definitely explains the fussiness lately. Henry's personality is shining through. He is a very observant boy, very curious and always looking around. He loves anything with wheels that he can push back and forth on the floor. Of course he loves his two doggies, Thor and Vader too. When they play fight with each other Henry chimes right in with his own growls. Henry loves spending time with Daddy during the day and always enjoys Nana's visits twice a week. We love him so much and can't believe he's growing so quickly!

Henry, did you get into your diaper or is that baked beans?
Whoa! Hold back the beans mom! Dad's gonna have fun changing this diaper tomorrow..

Good stuff! Do I get a bath after this?

Wait. Where did those beans go?

Playing with a beach ball at Seafair. We had fun hanging out with Grandpa & Grandma, Jessie, MJ, Jacob and Levi. Uncle Dan even stopped by to say hi, too!
Can you see my new tooth? It's next to my bottom right tooth. It's little, but it's there =)
Riding on daddy's shoulders so I could watch the hydros!
Blue Angels!!! Henry LOVED watching the planes in the sky. On Wednesday we took Patches, Nana and Aunt Amy out in the boat and Henry got soooo excited every time a plane or helicopter flew by. He's definitely a boy!
Yummy watermellon!
I like watermellon!
