Flush Rod, Jr.

Henry's Grandpa "Toilet Man" will never be so proud! What will we name Toilet Man's grandson who is son of "Flush Rod"? Why Flush Rod, Jr. of course! Looks like we have a plumber in the making!

Henry's First Steps!

We were told that if Henry wasn't walking by 15 months that we would need to let his pediatrician know. With the deadline just three weeks away, we have been encouraging Henry to venture out of his comfort zone and take his first steps without assistance. He is a great pupil and with much praise received, he has started to break free of our grip and walk on his own. Now it's only a few steps on his own, but we think he'll be running around by Christmas. Watch out - this kid is going to be a handful!

Happy Halloween!

Henry dressed up as a puppy for Halloween. We joined our friends Ben, Amanda and Victoria at Bellevue Square Mall to go trick or treating. It was the craziest experience trying to navigate through the crowds - I think every one in Bellevue decided the mall was the place to be! Not sure we'll be going back there next year...

We then went to Grandpa Patches and Nana's neighborhood to go door-to-door visiting the neighborhood friends. Aunt Amy was there too helping pass out candy at the front door.

Cutest puppy ever!

At the mall with Victoria the bunny.

Playing with a backhoe.

We thought it would be funny to dress Henry up in Thor's batman costume. So here he is at my office dressed up as a puppy that's dressed up as batman for Halloween!

Crabfest for Mommy's Birthday

For mommy's birthday we celebrated by taking a ferry ride to Port Angeles and renting a cabin on Lake Sutherland for the weekend. Our friends Scott & Mary joined us as they had planed to go to Crabfest in Port Angeles the same weekend. Sounded like an adventure, so we went along with them too. We spent the day eating crab in the crab tent and walking around the pier. In the evening we ate chocolate mousse cake (thanks Mary!) and ice cream. It was a fantastic birthday!

Blowing out the candle.

Yummy chocolate mousse cake from the french bakery!

Lake Sutherland from the cabin.

The BIG tent where all the delicious crab was eaten. Hanging from the tent were papermaches of various sea creatures - crab, jelly fish, salmon, clams. Henry LOVED staring at the all the things danglind from the ceiling.

This is one cool kid.

We ate breakfast at Granny's, a roadside cafe with delicious food and some farm animals behind the cafe.

Henry is O-N-E!

Yes, it's true! A full year has passed since we welcomed our bouncing baby boy into this world. We celebrated in style, had lots of friends and family to share the special day with us and Henry had his first taste of sugar - a cupcake!

This is the Korean tradition of Toljabee which predicts the child's future (we had so much fun watching our niece and nephews do this we had to keep the tradition going). Here's what the items represent:

pencil - scholar

spool of thread - long life

paint brush - artist

knife - good cook (we chose the spatula for obvious reasons)

money - prosperous & wealthy

calculator - engineer or accountant (ok-so this was added by mommy)

Henry chose the spool of thread!

And then the calculator :)

Happy Birthday Henry!!!!

I'll be walking before you know it!

Cupcakes and Cars - Henry's two favorite things!

Teddy Bear Cake - Henry's First Birthday cake!

Look at the loot! And he's spent...

On Henry's birthday we took him to the Puyallup Fair. He enjoyed visiting all the animals and petting the goats at the petting farm. He saw Clydesdale horses and a mama pig with her piglets. Here he is trying on a wig - if only it were black then it would go with his KISS shirt.

We started taking Henry to the Little Gym. He loves playing around with the other babies and crawling all over their play toys. His favorite thing to do is crawl into the middle of the circle during music time and clapping his hands.

For his birthday, mommy & daddy bought him a colorful play mat with foam letters and numbers. He loves crawling over it and pulling up the different letters.

Mommy went on a hike with her friend Tiffany and took Henry along for the ride. We hiked up Tiger mountain outside of Issaquah which is about a 5-mile round trip hike with almost 2,000 feet elevation gain. It wasn't easy, but worth it once we got to the top of the mountain.
Thankfully Tifffany was there to lend a back. She carried him most of the way up the trail - great cross-training!
In the hiking backpack looking like a robot.
On top of the mountain! Henry LOVED watching all the planes in the sky. Couldn't get a picture of him looking a the camera.
Yummy snack!

Huskie fan!!!!

So mommy & daddy went to the Dave Matthew's concert over Labor Day weekend with Amy & Brian and left Henry with Grandpa Patches and Nana for his FIRST sleepover! It poured rain the entire time driving up to the Gorge and while we tailgated in the parking lot. Thankfully the rain cleared up right as we were getting ready to head to the gates. The concert was great, but we did miss our little guy....

We also went camping with our friends May & Peter to Potholes State Park in Eastern Washingtong the last weekend in August. On our way back home there was a car fire, and subsequently a brush fire, on I-90. Traffic was stopped for a solid hour (not to mention it took another hour to finally drive through the mess). During that time, we brought Henry up front to test drive the Explorer. Who would have thought an 11-month old could do so well towing a boat! Look out - he's already counting down the days until he can drive!

Look at me mommy!

Sitting, er standing in Henry's case, by the fire. He's such a good little camper!
